Beauty Haul: Superdrug

Recently I've been trying to experiment a bit more with makeup and I think that quite a few posts of mine have reflected that. I'm slowly getting better and I've picked up a few of my own techniques that I'll probably share once I've improved enough for them to be worth telling.

So anyway, today I had a massive urge to go shopping for some new makeup to try out, it's not a massive haul but I just thought I'd share with you what I bought. Since I live in an area that hasn't got many shops I just went to Superdrug and boosted my Beauty Card points which I can imagine will come in handy at some point.

I went to a friends house a few days ago and we discussed an eyeshadow collection that she'd gotten for Christmas and since I liked quite a few of the tones I decided to buy it when I spotted it in the shop. A lot of the colours in there are quite shimmery which is something I like to feature when I'm doing my makeup because it makes my eyes look bigger than they are. There are also some brighter and bolder colours so I can really play about and try to find a look that I feel I suit.

Staying on the subject of eyeshadow, I've heard a lot of bloggers talking about the Maybelline New York 24 Hour Colour Tattoo gel eyeshadow. I've never tried a gel eyeshadow before so I'm looking forward to seeing the contrast between gel and powdered versions of the product. I picked up the 40-Permanent Taupe shade because it's quite neutral and wearable for work and similar engagements, I love the colour of it and I think I might try some of the other shades if I like the texture and consistency of it.

Whilst looking at the Maybelline New York products I spotted the Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara in Medium Brown, I don't normally buy anything from Maybelline so I thought I would buy two of their products and give it a chance. I've been wanting a good brow mascara for a while now anyway so it was the perfect opportunity to give it a try.

I then moved over to the Rimmel London stand and picked up the Scandaleyes Thick and Thin Eyeliner which I fully intend doing a comparison post about with their Exaggerate Eyeliner. This eyeliner I think is more like a felt tip pen so it should be easy to apply, especially since the tip is designed to be used for many different styles of eyeliner.

I'm not really a fan of Barry M products but I know quite a lot of people who are so I picked up the Hi Shine Gelly Lips in a soft pink shade. After all, it might just be their nail varnishes that I'm not so keen on. Anyway, I've been wanting to try another lip pencil for a while since I ran out of the chunk Collection one I had been using so I thought I'd give this one a try. I put some on when I stopped off for a coffee at my grans and I'm sort of on the fence about it, I love how easy it is to apply but I'm not sure about the shade. You never know, I might change my mind and it could end up in my January Favourites post.

The last thing I bought was a Love & Wilde Vanilla & Honey Gentle Soap, I wasn't planning on buying any new soap but I love vanilla and honey so I picked one up. It's in the most adorable hexagonal honeycomb sort of shape with a little bee engraved (is that the right word?) into it. I couldn't resist buying it and I'm glad I got it because it smelly utterly fantastic. I think I'll probably get a few more Love & Wilde products later in the month so as you can tell, I already really recommend getting this.

Thanks for reading about my haul, I'll try to do more of these if I have the funds!

  1. I got the turquoise colour tattoo and it's a gorgeous colour but I'm still figuring out how/what to wear it with! I love seeing people experiment with makeup though!

    1. I can't wear turquoise on my eyes because of my eye colour, I wish I could though. I'd recommend a nude lip, not one with pinky or orangey tones. Perhaps the Rimmel London Moisture Renew lipstick in 700 Nude Delight. :) x

    1. Hey! :) It is great for experimenting, somehow I think that the brighter shades aren't going to look fantastic but that's half of the fun. ;)

      That soap is adorable!
